Robin Jackson – Co-founder, Music Director

Robin Jackson is an original member of the Marchfourth Marching Band. He co-founded Joy Now in 2011, inspired by his passion for working with young people and using art as a means for social change.

He has worked for 15 years as a youth worker, arts teacher and facilitator with PYE GLOBAL and Culture Jam youth camps, as well as numerous arts and rite of passage events for teens in New Zealand, Canada and the USA.

With a degree in ethnomusicology and an unflagging musical curiosity, Jackson has lived and busked around the world, from an intentional beach community in New Zealand to the streets of Europe.  He has been a professional musician since age 16 and played with everyone from Gogol Bordello to Amanda Palmer to The Decembrists.   An award-winning songwriter, teacher, activist, and spirited impresario, Jackson has built on his colorful, bohemian upbringing and dedicated himself to creating and supporting music and community events around Portland, Or where he lives on an urban farm with his cat and a circus.
